MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - St. Thomas welcomed No. 25 Warner to campus Tuesday for a conference game that would decide the second place position with just a few games remaining in the regular season. STU prevailed with a 3-0 decision and now sits atop the conference standings.
Eran Belo struck first for the Bobcats in the match's twenty-second minute.
Guillermo Huaman assisted with a pass from the left side and Belo had a rip from just outside 20 yards. The match remained 1-0 until the seventy-eighth minute when Jonathon Rico collected a
Jairon Moreno collision with the Warner keeper and finished with a laser into the upper left corner of the net.
Maxi Longo sealed the deal for the Bobcats as he took on half of Warner's defense from his own half and finished with a shot off the keeper's hands inside Warner's box. The St. Thomas bench went crazy and met Longo at midfield to celebrate the sure victory.
St. Thomas moves to 6-1 in the Sun Conference and holds a tie-breaker over SCAD for the no. 1 position in the conference. STU is 8-5-1 overall and will go to Northwood on Saturday Oct. 23 at 3:30 p.m.
