Miami Gardens, Fla. .- This Friday St. Thomas University's women's soccer team topped conference opponent Webber International University at Bobcat Field. The Bobcats won with a score of 5-1.
In the first half the match was pretty even with the Bobcats having 2 shots and the Webber Warriors having 3. The end of the first half resulted in the 1-1 tie. WIU's #10 Nina Joergensen scored their first and only goal unassisted, and STU's #10 Amanda Belarmino scored the Bobcats first goal with #23 Adriana Rodriguez with the assist.
In the second half, the Bobcats continued to separate themselves with a stronger offensive attack. They had 7 shots in the second half compared to Webber's 3. The team scored 4 goals in the second half. #10 Amanda Belarmino scored her second goal of the game and # 23 Adriana Rodriguez also scored after assisting the first goal.
A hard foul from Webber that resulted in a penalty kick gave STU their fourth goal from #3 Amanda Trujillo. #12 Alicia Gallo scored the final goal with the assist coming from #19 Danielle Smith.
STU improves to 7-5-1 overall on the year and 4-3 in the conference. The Bobcats face Warner in their next match on October 24th, 2010 at 4 pm for Senior Night. Come support the Bobcats!
