MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - St. Thomas welcomed Talladega College to the Fernandez Center Saturday for a non-conference matchup. The Bobcats came out on top with a 75-55 victory.
The Tornados hung tough through the first ten minutes of the opening half, but STU's athleticism allowed the Bobcats to create separation on the scoreboard. St. Thomas increased its lead to 15 heading into the break, at 40-25.
Talladega came out in the second half with a full-court trap defense that proved menacing for the Bobcats. The Tornados cut St. Thomas' lead to single digits in the half's opening minutes causing Coach Clark Maloney to call several time outs and organize his team's play.
Kevin Hincapie took over the point and broke the Tornados' trap on several occasions to give St. Thomas the space they needed. STU won out easily, 75-55.
Eugene Davis has established himself as the scorer on this team and finished with 17 Saturday on 7-12 shooting. Hincapie came off the bench with 12 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal.
Demetris Love also had a strong showing off the bench with 11 points on 4-5 shooting.
STU moves to 3-1 on the season and will face Morris College at 8 p.m. in the Fernandez Center on Saturday, November 27.
