MIAMI GARDENS, Fla- The STU men's soccer team was in action Friday afternoon on Bobcat field taking  on the Sun Conference leader SCAD. STU came into the match with a 3-7 overall record and a 2-1 conference record. SCAD came into the match with a 4-3-2 overall record and a 4-0-2 conference record. STU won the match 4-1.

The first half would get underway with two quick fouls being called on SCAD in the 1st minute. SCAD would pounce first and be awarded a corner kick that was deflected and a subsequent quick header by SCAD's Brinton Nute was blocked.

STU would attack in the 7th minute with a shot on goal by Orlando Lawrence that was saved by SCAD goalkeeper Ross Faulds. Faulds would have 7 total saves in the match for his side. Jhonathan Rico would take a pair of shots in the 9th and 10th minutes one went wide and out of play and the other was yet again saved by Ross Faulds.  STU would subsequently be awarded another corner that was taken by Orlando Lawrence  quickly to Eran Belo with his shot being  deflected.

The first half would be a tightly contested match with each side battling hard and trading shots on goal. The first 45 minutes would come to a close with the score level at 0-0.

The first breakthrough of the match would come in the 49th minute by Orlando Lawrence with an assist from Jhonathan Rico for his second goal of the season. The second goal for STU would come in the 64th minute with a goal by Andres Ruiz with another assist by Jhonathan Rico. Rico had 2 total assists in the match.

The Third goal for STU would come in the 77th minute by Jason Heyward who came up big in the contest for his side in his first game back from injury. Mario Mata would get credit for the assist.

SCAD caught a break in the 82nd minute with a goal by Ryan Middleton with an assist by Alexandre Sibelait. The score at this point had STU up 3-1. However, STU would answer back quickly with another goal by Heyward. The assist from Junior Montano on an amazing long balll that Haywood was able to gain possesion on a 50/50 ball with Faulds and tuck it nicely into an empty net. The second half would come to a close with a whopping 5 goals scored total and a big conference win for STU at home.
