MIAMI GARDENS, Fla- The STU volleyball team was in action Friday night inside the Fernandez Center taking on Warner University. STU came into the contest with an 8-12 record and was looking to bounce back after a recent loss. Warner came in with an 8-13 record and was looking to get to .500 in the conference. STU lost the match 3 sets to 1.
Warner's Kimberlee Thomas led the way for her team with a team leading 12 kills and chipped in defensively with 2 digs. Jarrah Garner had a team total 34 digs to lead her side defensively.
“We performed pretty good, it was a tough match, but I think the girls performed pretty good tonight, Warner head coach Sergio Rios said. We had an injury and we had to have a replacement but overall it was good”, Rios added.
Warner won the first set to take a 1-0 lead. STU battled back hard and won the second set. But service errors continued to be an issue for the Bobcats, they had a team total 11 compared to Warner's 5. Warner would go on to win sets 3 and 4 to win the match.
Nicole McInnis continued her outstanding play for the Bobcats this season; she led her team with a huge double-double of 23 kills and 19 digs. Brandi Arsenault was second with 14 kills and 5 digs defensively.
Friday was senior night and Aline Viapiana and Mayara Gomes were honored at the start of the game.
