MIAMI GARDENS, Fla.—  The STU Women's Basketball team was on the road to open their season as they traveled north to Mount Vernon, Georgia to take part in the Q-Kelley Classic.  They played two games against two NAIA Division I schools, one on Friday night playing Brewton Parker College and one on Saturday afternoon against Southern Polytechnic College.

The Robin Harmony lead squad was victorious in both contests pulling out a nail biting 68-65 win over Brewton Parker before convincingly beating Southern Poly 63-45.

Against Brewton Parker, the Bobcats overcame a six-point halftime deficit pulling out the three point victory.  Leading the way for STU was newcomer Roxyali Munoz scoring 23 points, adding three assists and three steals in 36 minutes of action. Perhaps the more impressive stat for Munoz was her 100% free throw percentage going 9-for-9 from the charity strip knocking down several clutch free throws down the stretch.

Another player new to the STU lineup, Constina Cousins scored 14 points in her STU debut going 6-for-9 from the field while TSC 2010-11 Newcomer of the Year, Maddie Cummings scored 13 points with three assists of her own.

In their Saturday afternoon contest, STU jumped out to a nine-point halftime lead and didn't look back winning by 18.  Leading the way for STU was sophomore guard Antonella Marino as she posted her first double-double of the season scoring 17 points, adding 10 rebounds while also leading the team with two assists and three steals.  The backcourt trio of Marino, Munoz and Cummings combined for 49 points and nine steals pacing STU with Munoz scoring 14 and Cummings leading all scorers' with 18 points.

The second half belonged to Cummings and Marino as the returning duo combined for 23 second half points.  At one point late in the game Southern Poly had cut the STU lead to four but Cummings was able to knock down a clutch three pointer, extending the lead to seven placing the proverbial nail in the coffin of Southern Poly.

STU will be on the road again this weekend as they will travel to Milligan, Tennessee taking on #21 Milligan College and Virginia Intermont College in the Milligan College Classic.
