WEST PALM BEACH, Fla – The 23
rd ranked St. Thomas women's basketball team fell to No. 1 Indiana Wesleyan, 45-39, Friday at the West Palm Beach Holiday Classic. The Bobcats fell to 10-4 on the season, while Indiana Wesleyan improved to 14-1.
In a defensive slugfest, the Bobcats managed to hold Indiana Wesleyan to its lowest point total of the season. St. Thomas outrebounded IWU 31-25 (9-4 offensive rebs), but struggled offensively shooting 30% from the field and going 1-5 on 3-pointers.
Senior forward
Nickerline Montina led STU with 17 points, 15 of which came in the second half. Junior forward
Dannisha Pierce led all rebounders with 9 boards to go along with 9 points.
The Bobcats enter Sun Conference play beginning with a road matchup with Johnson & Wales on Friday, January 6.. STU's next home game will not be until January 20 vs. Ave Maria at the Fernandez Family Center.
