Miami Gardens, Fla. — STU Women's Basketball clinches regular season championship! STU Women's Basketball wraps up the 2011 regular season with an overall record of 19-8 and 12-1 in the Sun Conference.
The Bobcats will host the opening round of the Sun Conference on Tuesday against Johnson and Wales University. Dannisha Pierce, Maddie Cummings and Montina Nickerline lead the offense for STU averaging 14.9, 14.5 and 14.0 points per game. Pierce and Montina are both shooting above 50% from the field, while Cummings is ranked 4th in the NAIA for total 3 point field goals made per game (3.2) and total 3 points field goals made(80). Seniors Brittany Owens, Santana Lennon and Amanda Fernandez are also expected to play big minutes for the Bobcats as they start toward their goal of winning the Conference Championship.
