MIAMI GARDENS, Fla- The STU women's volleyball team was in action on the road Wednesday evening taking on arch rival Florida Memorial University. STU would sweep the Lions 3-0. The match took place inside the Chester Robinson Center. The last time these two teams met the Bobcats swept FMU 3-0.

STU started off the first set in style with a quick service ace. STU would go on to take a 7-1 lead early on and would go on an impressive run. The momentum for STU was largely aided by the Lions who would have a difficult night offensively, which would be the story of the match. A combination of long errors and miscommunications defensively would seal the deal for STU. The Bobcats would go on to take the first set in this best of 5 contest 25-7.

STU stared the second set with an impressive showing defensively with a big block from Nicole McInnis, this would set the tone for the rest of the match. “I think I did pretty well overall, but I think I need to work on some things, McInnis said overall I think the team did very well” McInnis added.

STU dictated most of the ebb and flow and rhythm of the match by serving extremely well. “I think any time you serve that well, it tends to affect the point spread” coach Friedman Sifontes said.

Coach Sifontes was satisfied with his team's performance after the match. “I think we have a certain comfort level when we step on the court Sifontes said I think we are getting to where we need to go” Sifontes added.

Long errors would continue to plague FMU and STU would win the second set 25-11. STU would start the third and final set of the match with a service ace by Alexis Nicholls, this would set a tremendous tone as you could hear a pin drop inside the “Lions Den” as STU would go on the assault with a combination of a barrage of service aces and long errors from FMU that gave the match away. The Bobcats would go on to win the third set 25-3.
