MIAMI GARDENS, Fla- The STU women's volleyball team was in action Tuesday night in the Fernandez Family Center taking on Northwood University. STU came into the match with a 5 and 2 record and was looking to capitalize on its recent string of victories. While Northwood came in with a 5 and 8 record and was looking to gain some momentum moving forward. STU lost the match in strait sets 3-0.
Northwood's Kara Wenz led the way with a team leading 16 kills which would amount for half of her team's total. Northwood's coach was pleased with her team's performance after the match. “They played confident and together” she said. Kara Wenz was also somewhat please with her performance. “It was up to par, I really didn't play up to my ability but my teammates helped me get there.”
STU would drop the first set 25 to 16, then the second 25 to 23 and the third set also 25 to 23. Brandi Arsenault would lead the Bobcats in kills for this match with 11. STU also had 15 team errors as opposed to Northwood's 11. Coach Freidman Sifontes would attribute the loss to his teams practice habits as of late. “It is a reflection of how we have been practicing lately Sifontes said, you play the way you practice.”
