MCINNIS LEADS BOBCATS TO WEEKEND SPLIT

Box Score 1 MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The St. Thomas women's volleyball team split a pair of Sun Conference matches over the weekend with a defeat to eighth ranked Embry-Riddle on Friday night followed by a four-set win over Southeastern on Saturday afternoon.  The Bobcats are now 7-3 overall and 2-1 in The Sun Conference.
 
In a tightly contested match with Embry-Riddle, the Bobcats dropped the opening set 15-25 before coming back to win the second set 25-23.  By winning the second set, St. Thomas snapped Embry-Riddle's streak of 53 consecutive set wins in conference play.
 
The Eagles rallied to win the third set 25-23 and then put the match away with a 25-22 win in the fourth set.  The match had 11 tie scores and five lead changes.
 
Leading the Bobcats against the Eagles was Sydney Maynard with 53 assists, Taylor Allgeier with 22 kills, and Nicole McInnis with 22 digs and 17 kills.
 
On Saturday, St. Thomas rebounded with a 3-1 win over Southeastern at the Fernandez Family Center.  The Bobcats won the opening set 25-20, but this time dropped the second set to Southeastern 21-25.   STU came back with a fury winning set three 25-18 and dominating the decisive fourth set 25-15.
 
McInnis led STU against the Fire with 18 kills and 17 digs, while Maynard had 42 assists.  McInnis was also credited with a service ace and a block.  In her last three games, McInnis has registered 43 kills and 46 digs.
 
St. Thomas returns to action with two non-conference road trips.  On Wednesday, STU travels to Melbourne to take on Florida Tech followed by a visit to Palm Beach Atlantic on Thursday, October 11.  The next conference game for the Bobcats will be a road game at cross-town rival Florida Memorial on Friday, October 13.
