5-GAME WINNING STREAK FOR BOBCATS VOLLEYBALL

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The St. Thomas women's volleyball team extended their winning streak to five games and took over second place in The Sun Conference with a pair of straight-set victories this weekend over Northwood and Ave Maria.
 
On Friday night vs. Northwood at the Fernandez Family Center, the Bobcats did not lose a set, cruising to a 3-0 victory over the Seahawks, 25-12, 25-10, and 25-11.  In the match, Taylor Allgeier led the team with 14 kills, while Nicole McInnis added nine kills and six digs.  Sydney Maynard led all setters with 31 assists to go along with two service aces.
 
The Bobcats then hit the road crossing the Everglades for a Saturday matinee at Ave Maria.  The Gyrenes kept the score close in the opening set (25-20), before STU seized momentum for the remainder of the match with a 25-13 second set win.  The Bobcats put the match away winning the third set 25-18.  Individually, Allgeier again led all players with 15 kills.  Libero Angie Ardiles led the defense with 21 digs, while Maynard had 35 assists and 11 digs.  Ardiles and McInnis recorded two service aces a piece.
 
St. Thomas returns to action with a home exhibition on Tuesday at 7 p.m. vs. Broward College followed by a pair of conference road games at Webber International and at Warner on Friday and Saturday.  The regular season concludes with Senior Night on Tuesday October 30 at 7 p.m. vs. Florida Memorial at the Fernandez Family Center.
