MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The St. Thomas women's basketball team won its 20th game of the 2011-12 season with a 76-53 win over Webber International Saturday afternoon at the Fernandez Center.  The Bobcats improved to 20-5 overall and 8-1 in The Sun Conference.

STU was led by junior forward Constina Cousins who posted 17 points and 13 rebounds to register her seventh double-double of the year.  Junior Nickerline Montina was just shy of a double-double of her own as she scored 14 points and pulled down nine rebounds.

In total, five Bobcats scored in double figures with senior guard Maddie Cummings (13 points), junior forward Dannisha Pierce (12 points), and sophomore forward Jasmin Sakers (11 points) joining Cousins and Montina.  Sakers also had a strong afternoon on the glass with eight rebounds, including five offensive boards.

STU dominated the glass as a team outrebounding the Warriors 47-32 in total rebounds and 23-8 in offensive rebounds.  In addition to Cousins, Montina and Sakers who combined for 30 rebounds, freshman center Gina Grimstead pulled down seven boards.

St. Thomas ran out to a 12-4 lead to start the game, before WIU battled back to take a 15-12 lead off an 11-0 run.  The Bobcats would respond with a 15-0 run of their own and went on to take a 34-24 lead into halftime. The Warriors would cut STU's lead down to six points early in the second half, but that was as close as the game would get.  The Bobcats would explode with a 13-0 run to take the lead as high as 31 points with three minutes remaining.

St. Thomas will next play its final home game of the season on Tuesday at 7 p.m. vs. Florida Memorial on senior night at the Fernandez Center.  The Bobcats will be looking to avenge their only conference loss of the season which came via the Lions on Jan. 11 at FMU.
