MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - The St. Thomas women's volleyball team registered a decisive straight-set win over Edward Waters in its home opener at the Fernandez Family Center on Friday night to improve to 4-1 on the season.  The Bobcats won the first set 25-12, the second set 25-15, then closed out the match with a 25-9 win in the third set to put away the Tigers.

"We did well overall but there are still some things we need to work on executing", said Head Coach Callaway Mefford.  "We served very aggressively and passed very well.  We didn't have any errors which is important for us."

Junior Nicole McInnis continued her strong play as one of the team's go-to outside hitters.  McInnis and redshirt freshman Taylor Allgeier were named to the All-Tournamet team last weekend at the Illinois Tech Classic in Chicago.

"Nicole played really well again tonight," said Mefford.  "She is a great all-around player and we can move her all around the court. She'll get kills for us anywhere we put her."

The Bobcats do not have a match until returning to action on Wednesday, September 19 vs. Webber International at 5 p.m at the Fernandez Center.  The Webber International match will begin a stretch of five contests in 10 days for St. Thomas, all coming against Sun Conference opponents.
