Box Score MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The St. Thomas women's volleyball team dropped a match to Webber International, 3-0 (21-24, 23-25, 19-25) Wednesday night at the Fernandez Family Center. The game, which does not count as a conference game, was the first for the Bobcats in over two weeks. Webber International improved to 7-3 overall and St. Thomas fell to 4-2 overall.
In the first set, St. Thomas opened up a 10-6 lead, before the Warriors came back with 6-1 run to make the score 12-11. The Bobcats and Warriors traded the lead until a tie at 19-19. Webber then scored on six of the next eight points to win the set.
In set two, kills by
Taylor Allgeier and
Felicia Gonzales, both off sets by
Linett Perez, gave STU leads of 19-18 and 20-19. The Warriors then took the lead 24-22 before a kill by
Nicole McInnis cut the score to 24-23. WIU won the subsequent point to win the second set by two points. The Warriors would go on to lead most of the third set to close out the match.
Libero
Angie Ardiles led the Bobcats with 17 digs and three aces. Allgeier registered 12 kills to lead STU, followed by Arsenault and Gonzales who each had nine kills and one block. Perez had 18 assists and freshman setter
Sydney Maynard chipped in with 16 assists.
The Bobcats return to action with their conference opener vs. Ave Maria on Friday, September 21 at the Fernandez Family Center.
