Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The 17th ranked St. Thomas women's basketball team remains undefeated and in first place in The Sun Conference after sweeping its first two conference road opponents this weekend.  St. Thomas defeated Webber International (6-8, 2-2), 73-54, on Friday night in Babson Park, Fla.  The Bobcats followed up with a 67-50 victory over Warner (5-12, 1-3) on Saturday afternoon in Lake Wales, Fla.

With the wins, St. Thomas improved to 16-2 overall and 4-0 in The Sun Conference.  STU is tied with Ave Maria for first place in the conference.  St. Thomas and Ave Maria play next in the first of two meetings on Friday in Ave Maria, Fla.

On Friday night, the Bobcats were led by senior forward Constina Cousins who scored 22 points and pulled down 12 rebounds for her third double-double of the season.  Cousins shot an efficient 8-for-11 from the field and was a perfect six-for-six from the free throw line.  Six of her 12 rebounds came on the offensive end.

Junior guard Danielle Ciccarone started at Webber International and responded with her first career double-double as a Bobcat scoring a season-high 15 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.  Her stat line also included seven assists and five steals.

Guard Berna Miranda and Dannisha Pierce also scored in double figures.  Pierce also registered four steals as the Bobcats had double-digit steals for the 14th time this season.

After taking a 31-25 lead into the visiting locker room, STU's lead slipped away with the Warriors tying the game at 32-32.  A Pierce jumper followed by a Ciccarone fast-break layup started a 10-3 run that gave the Bobcats some breathing room with the score 42-35 with 13:25 to go.  WIU would hang around, trailing by nine with 6:21 remaining.  The Bobcats responded with a 7-0 run and outscoring the Warriors 18-8 to close out the game.

On Saturday, St. Thomas traveled nearby Lake Wales, Fla. for an afternoon matchup with Warner.  For much of the game, STU struggled with Warner, trailing by as many as 14 points in the first half.  A 16-5 run to end the first half cut the lead to six points at intermission.  Trailing by one point at the 15:36 mark, the Bobcats reeled off an 11-1 run to get some breathing room.  The Bobcats finished with an 8-1 run to end the game.

The little scoring Warner did get came mostly on the free throw line as the Bobcats held the home team without a field goal for the final 15:36 of the game.  As a team, Warner shot just 3-25 (12%) for the second stanza.

Individually vs. Warner, Pierce had a big-time performance with 18 points and 17 rebounds (10 offensive).  Jasmin Sakers recorded a double-double as well with 10 points and 11 boards.

Following road games at Ave Maria and Southeastern, the Bobcats will return for their next home game on Saturday, Jan. 26 vs. Florida Memorial at the Fernandez Family Center.
