Box Score MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – In the Sun Conference opener for both schools, St. Thomas (13-2, 1-0) defeated cross-town rival Johnson & Wales (3-12, 0-1), 69-44, Friday night at the Fernandez Family Center.
Four different St. Thomas players scored in double figures with
Dannisha Pierce leading the way with 16 points on 7-for-12 shooting on a night that the junior forward was honored prior to the game for scoring her 1,000th career point.
Senior forward
Constina Cousins scored 13 points and pulled down nine rebounds, one rebound shy of her 11
th career double-double. Guard
Berna Miranda recorded a career-high eight steals to go along with 13 points, while
Antonella Marino scored ten points and dished out a game-high six assists.
Myia Russell led Johnson & Wales with a game-high 20 points on 10-for-14 shooting and nine rebounds.
St. Thomas returns to action with another home conference matchup vs. Northwood on Saturday at the Fernandez Family Center.
