STU WINS 4TH STRAIGHT WITH 5-SET WIN OVER WARNER

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - The St. Thomas Women's Volleyball team rallied from a 2-1 deficit to defeat conference foe Warner in a five-set thriller on Saturday afternoon at the Fernandez Family Center. With the win, the Bobcats improved to 11-11 overall and 6-2 in The Sun Conference. The victory was the fourth straight win for STU, all coming in conference play, moving the Bobcats into sole possession of second place in the conference standings. Warner fell to 12-8 overall and 4-3 in the conference.

Senior Nicole McInnis led the Bobcats with 21 kills and 22 digs. Freshman Marisa Markus finished with 18 kills, seven digs, and two blocks. Sophomore Jordan Wiese recorded 23 digs, while freshman defensive specialist Alexis Busch served two aces to go along with eight digs. Freshman setter Dana Nowaczyk registered 52 assists to go along with 13 digs and three blocks. Senior Rosa Viera led the Bobcats front line defensively with six blocks. Redshirt junior Gaby Huaroto-Luque chipped in with 14 digs.

After falling behind early in the first set, the Bobcats held off the Royals for several set points before ultimately falling 29-27. In the second set, STU held the lead most of the way to win 25-22 and even the score 1-1. Warner took the third set 25-21, forcing a must-win situation for the Bobcats. In a thrilling fourth set, STU pulled off a 29-27 win and took that momentum into the final set, winning 15-7.

The Bobcats continue conference play with a match at Florida Memorial on Friday, October 25.
