MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - The St. Thomas Women's Volleyball team extended its win streak to five straight with a straight-set victory on the road at Florida Memorial. The Bobcats won the first two sets by the score of 25-20 and 25-21, then dominated the third set 25-3 for the win. With the win, St. Thomas held on to sole possession of second place in the conference with a 6-2 mark in league play. Overall, the Bobcats moved above .500 with a record of 12-11. The Lions dropped to 0-9 in the conference and 5-13 overall.
STU was led by freshmen Dana Nowacyk and
Mary Bowers. Nowacyk averaged seven assists per set, while Bowers had seven kills, six blocks, and a hitting percentage of .385. Senior
Nicole McInnis registered right kills and 11 digs. Sophomore libero
Jordan Wiese recorded 11 digs, while freshman
Alexis Busch came off the bench for two service aces and nine digs.
Next up for the Bobcats is a match on Friday at Embry-Riddle, ranked 10th in the nation and first in The Sun Conference. Earlier this season, the Bobcats won the opening set against the Eagles before losing the match 3-1 at the Fernandez Family Center.
