WOMEN DOMINATE PAINT, DEFEAT EDWARD WATERS

Box Score WEST PALM BEACH, FLA. – St. Thomas women's basketball defeated Edwards Waters 73-69 Friday afternoon in West Palm Beach. Bobcat turnovers and Edward Waters' three pointers saw St. Thomas trailing at the end of the first half. Seniors Daniella Ciccarone, Joselyn Ostrout and Jessika Montalvo lead the way in a strong second half securing the Bobcats third win of the season.

Edward Waters came out right away with the full court press, creating St. Thomas turnovers and easy baskets for the Lady Eagles. Freshman Tynesha Johnson kept the Bobcats in the game by working hard in the paint and going 4-6 from the free throw line. Front court partner Claudia Martin also had a good first half putting up six point and six rebounds. Edward Waters' Amber Antoine was the difference in the first half, hitting three three-point shots.

Even though St. Thomas out rebounded Edward Waters by eight, they still found themselves down 29-32 at the end of the first half.

This game would prove to be a tale of two halves for the Bobcats. Early on Montalvo gave St. Thomas a shoot of much needed energy and an early second half lead. The teams would go on to trade baskets till Ciccarone scored six straight for the Bobcats to put them back in the lead. Ostrout was the big difference in the second half. Coming off the bench, she came in and scored nine points with and grabbed four rebounds.

Edward Waters had a late game come back, sparked by freshman guard Kyeshia Johnson.St. Thomas held strong and put the game away with a free throw by Ostrout to win the game 73-69.
