Box Score MIAMI GARDENS, FLA. - #17 St. Thomas men's basketball came away with a huge win over Sun Conference opponent Southeastern Friday night. The first half saw the Fire come out hot early on before the Bobcats were able to rustle back control of the game. In the second half St. Thomas kicked it in to another gear on their way to a 91-71 victory. The paint was controlled by Davorn Bryant, while Floyd Battle scored from beyond the arc.

Southeastern lead the first eight minutes of the game behind good shooting and ball movement, but the Bobcats would fight their way back and take the lead soon after. Senior Kevin Hancapie and Junior Lorel Beckford owned the first half for the Bobcats. Hancapie scored nine of his 10 points in the first half while Beckford scored eight points, while making all four of his shoots. St. Thomas would end the first half with a narrow 37-31 lead.

While Southeastern were able to keep it close in the first half, STU completely took over the game in the second half. After all five of his shoots in the first half, Battle came alive and scored 18 in the second half. Battle has been a scoring machine since returning from injury, leading the Bobcats in scoring in the last three games. "Shaq" Bryant made the most of his 11 second half minutes, putting up 13 points on 6-7 shooting. He finished the game with 20 points and three blocks, his best game of the early 2013-14 season. In the end STU coasted to an easy win in the second half, leading by as many as 24 points.
