BOBCATS HANG WITH 6TH RANKED CARDINAL STRITCH

Box Score WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - St. Thomas put up a valiant fight, but ultimately lost 71-60 to sixth ranked Cardinal Stritch on Tuesday at the Northwood Holiday Classic in West Palm Beach. Senior Daniella Ciccarone scored 22 points on 9-of-12 shooting and junior Antishia Wright had 17 points and blocked three shots in the defeat. The Bobcats concluded play at the Northwood Holiday Classic, going 1-1 with a 116-108 win on Monday over Olivet Nazarene (Ill.).

The Bobcats led for most of the first half and went up by four points after a Wright three-pointer made the score 20-16 with 7:46 to play until intermission. The Wolves countered, taking the lead 25-24 with at the 3:15 mark and ending the half on a 12-5 run. Cardinal Stritch would go on to lead the enitre second half, stretching its lead to as many as 16 points.

St. Thomas returns to action with the start of 2014 Sun Conference play when they travel to Thomas (Ga.) on Saturday for a 2 p.m. game. The Bobcats return home for a conference tilt vs. Southeastern on Monday at 6 p.m. at the Fernandez Family Center.
