Box Score MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Junior
Davorn Bryant scored a career-high 26 points to lead six STU players to score in double-figures as St. Thomas blew out Johnson & Wales, 99-65 Wednesday night at the Fernandez Family Center. With the win, the Bobcats improved to 19-8 overall and 9-5 in The Sun Conference.
Bryant came off the bench to score his 26 points on 11-of-16 shooting and a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line. Guards
Floyd Battle (18 pts.),
James Vice (12 pts.) and
Dylan O'Sullivan (10 pts.) each scored in double figures coming off the bench as well. As a team, the STU bench scored a season-high 69 points.
Starters Khalis Coppock-Bey (13) and
Demonte' Simpson (10) also hit the double-digit scoring mark, while starting forward
Lorel Beckford was one of three players, along with Bryant and Battle, to record six rebounds.
STU led by 13 points at halftime, before busting the game in the second half with runs of 14-0 and 8-0 stretched the lead to as many as 37 points. The 99 points scored were the most by the Bobcats since scoring 100 points in a loss to Concordia (Calif.) in 2007.
St. Thomas returns to action on Saturday at 4 p.m. vs. fourth ranked Northwood in the regular-season home finale for the Bobcats.
