11th RANKED BOBCATS UPSET BY WEBBER INTL.,15-GAME WIN STREAK SNAPPED

Box Score MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Webber International upset 11th ranked St. Thomas, 64-61 in overtime, in the first semifinal of the 2013 Sun Conference Championship Presented by Shula's Hotel and Golf Club.  The upset victory by Webber International (14-13) snapped a 15-game win streak for St. Thomas (27-3).

Webber International's Jasmine Singleton hit a three-pointer with seven seconds remaining in regulation to tie the score 56-56 and send the game into overtime.  In the overtime period, a jumper by Kristin Throckmorton, followed by a free throw by Alishia Kahan put the Warriors ahead by four points with 40 seconds to play.  A put-back jumper by STU's Daniella Ciccarone off a missed three-pointer by Shanika Brooks cut the lead to two points with 17 seconds left. With four seconds to go, WIU's Erin Henry made the first of two free throws, then grabbed her own rebound off a missed free throw on her second attempt to secure the final score and the upset for the Warriors.
 
Kahan led all scorers with 20 points, to go along with seven rebounds, five assists and two steals.  Yesenia Lora recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.  Singleton had 16 points and six rebounds as the only other scorer in double figures for the Warriors.
 
STU was led by Ciccarone who registered a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while dishing out five assists.  Berna Miranda and Jasmin Sakers each scored 14 points.  Sun Conference Player of the Year Constina Cousins pulled down 11 rebounds, but was held to just six points and fouled out with 44 seconds to play in the overtime period.
 
Webber International advances to the Sun Conference Championship game to be played at 3 p.m. on Saturday at the Fernandez Family Center on the St. Thomas campus.
