2013-2014 AUDITIONS
Auditions for the 2013-2014 team will be held on
Sunday, August 18, 3:00pm at the Fernandez Family Center for Leadership and Wellness on the main campus of St. Thomas University. Are you ready to show your spirit? If so, we are excited and looking forward to seeing you! The following is information that will prepare you for the audition.
TRYOUT FORMAT
· Check-in & Roll Call
· Welcome & Expectations
· Perform turns
· Perform splits
· Performs leaps
· Perform a toe touch
· Perform a tilt jump
· Learn and Execute Taught Routines (dance) --Be prepared to perform hip-hop/jazz/and kick line routines that will be taught to you during the audition.
WHAT TO BRING
· Athletic clothes/dance clothes (as appropriate)
· Athletic/dance shoes (as appropriate)
· Unofficial high school transcripts (if you are an incoming Freshman)
· SAT/ACT scores
· Tryout Medical Questionnaire (supplied at the tryout)
ELIGIBILITY
Prospective students and students currently enrolled at St. Thomas University who have made the commitment to attend St. Thomas University during the 2012-2013 school year are eligible for the varsity spirit squads. Males and females are equally eligible to tryout.
If selected to the Dance Team, incoming students must have:
· 2.5 overall high school GPA
· 880 SAT or 18 ACT from a single test date (SAT score is from reading and math)
· Graduated (or will graduate) in the top half of high school graduating class
Current and transfer students must meet the following requirements:
· Passed 24 credit hours between the last two full-time terms of college attendance
· At least 2.5 overall college GPA
· Be registered full-time (12 or more credits) during time of participation
ATTITUDE
Present your best and most favorable attitude. The St. Thomas University Staff has the right to remove any participant at any time for bad attitude or failure to follow safety guidelines and regulations.
SCORE/JUDGING SHEETS
Scores and judging sheets will not be released. St. Thomas University will make all final decisions on squad member selection. Any tryout participant who has questions after the team is officially announced may ask these questions before he/she leaves the tryout facility. Threats, outbursts, rude behavior, or rude questions from participants, former or current coaches, parents, or any other supporting unit will not be accepted or tolerated at any time.
