TRUJILLO TWINS, MIRA LEAD STU TO 5-0 VICTORY

Box Score MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - The St. Thomas women's soccer team continued to make a statement on the national scene with a 5-0 win over Cardinal Stritch (Wis.) on Friday afternoon at Bobcat Field. With the win, the Bobcats improved to 3-0, undefeated against non-conference opponents, including a win at seventh ranked Mobile in the second game of the season.

The Bobcats were led by senior Sara Mira along with senior twin sisters Amanda and Courtney Trujillo. Mira scored one goal and registered an assist hat trick, while each twin scored a goal. Amanda Trujillo added an assist on the game's first goal.by Mira

Mira's goal came in the game's fifth minute to set the tone for the match which STU controlled from start to finish. In the 25th minute, Amanda Trujillo and Mira traded roles with STU's second goal coming on a Mira assist to Trujillo. With less than four minutes remaining before halftime, Mira set up freshman Amyah Banks who scored her first career goal as a collegiate to make the score 3-0.

Midway through the second half, senior midfielder Melony Poviones scored off another Mira assist, her third of the game. Courtney Trujillo rounded out the scoring with a goal assisted by senior Miranda Goransson in the 69th minute.

Next up for the Bobcats is another non-conference home game vs. Georgia Gwinnett on Sunday, 12 p.m. at Bobcat Field.
