STU WINS 75-53 OVER WEBBER, MOVES TO 5-0 TO LEAD THE SUN CONFERENCE

Box Score MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - St. Thomas remained perfect in league play with a resounding 75-53 over Webber International on Saturday afternoon at the Fernandez Family Center. The Bobcats improved to 5-0 and remained in first place in The Sun Conference.

Junior Antishia Wright led the Bobcats with a double-double of 19 points and 14 rebounds. Sophomore Jessika Montalvo scored 19 points, while senior Daniella Ciccarone scored 15 points to go along with six rebounds.

STU opened the game with a 16-0 lead, but let WIU back in the game late in the first half. After taking a four-point lead into halftime, the Bobcats ran away in the second half, outscoring the Warriors 40-22 and holding the visitors to a mere 25% shooting in the half.

Much of the game was won at the free throw line where the Bobcats shot 22-of-27 (82%) led by Wright who went 9-of-9 from the charity stripe. STU shot well from the field as well, shooting 56% compared to 33% for the Warriors.

St. Thomas returns to action on Wednesday at 6 p.m. vs. conference foe Warner at the Fernandez Family Center.
