MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - St. Thomas defeated Ave Maria, 67-54 on Saturday afternoon at the Fernandez Family Center. Jessika Montalvo and Tynesha Johnson each scored 15 points to lead the Bobcats. With the win, St. Thomas improves to 10-9 overall and 7-1 in The Sun Conference. Ave Maria fell to 13-7 and 5-2 in conference play. STU now holds a two-game lead in the Sun Conference standings.

On the boards, STU had two players record double-digit rebounds. Jasmin Sakers pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds with four coming on the offensive glass. Antishia Wright recorded 10 rebounds to go along with seven points, seven assists, two blocked shots and two steals.

St. Thomas returns action on Wednesday at Southeastern in Lakeland, Fla. The next home game for the Bobcats is Saturday. Feb. 1 vs. Thomas (Ga.)
