Box Score LAKELAND, Fla. - St. Thomas was outlasted by Southeastern 84-82 in double overtime on Wednesday night in Lakeland, Fla. The Bobcats fell to 7-2 in Sun Conference play, but remained in first place in the league standings.
Five Bobcats scored in double figures with
Berna Miranda leading the way with 15 points on five field goals, including three three-pointers.
Daniella Ciccarone scored 14 points and pulled down nine rebounds.
Antishia Wright also had nine rebounds to go along with 11 points.
Jessika Montalvo made three shots from beyond the arc en route to 13 points, while
Claudia Martin added 10 points.
The Bobcats rallied with a 7-0 run in the final 3:15 of regulation behind a five straight points by Miranda and two free throws by Wright to tie the game at 63-63 forcing the first overtime period. In the first OT, Wright converted a three-point play with 25 seconds to play, but SEU responded with a field goal with six seconds to play to force the second overtime.
In the second OT, a three-pointer by Montalvo tied the game at 79-79 with 46 seconds to play. Sotuheastern pulled away for the win scoring five the game's final six points.
STU returns to action with a Sun Conference game on Saturday at 2 p.m. vs. Thomas (Ga.) at the Fernandez Family Center.
