Box Score MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - St. Thomas stayed on top of the Sun Conference Women's Basketball standings by improving to 4-0 in league play with a 61-54 road win over Florida Memorial.
Antishia Wright scored 15 points and
Claudia Martin pulled down 12 rebounds to lead the Bobcats.
The Bobcats trailed 24-18 at halftime, then outscored the Lions 43-30 en route to the victory. A
Jessika Montalvo jumper off an assist by
Daniella Ciccarone gave the Bobcats a 31-30 lead with 13:14 to play in regulation. STU later went on a 10-run capped by a Montalvo three-pointer that stretched the lead to 49-36 with 7:14 to play. The Lions cut the lead down to five points in the closing minutes, but were unable to rally as the Bobcats won their third straight game.
As a team, STU shot 40% from the field, yet held FMU to 34%. The Bobcats also forced Florida Memorial into 19 trunovers.
St. Thomas returns to action on Saturday at 2 p.m. vs. Webber International where the Bobcats will look to improve to 5-0 in Sun Conference play and keep sole possession of first place in the conference.
