Box Score MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - St. Thomas (1-6, TSC 2-5) took down conference opponent Ave Maria (1-9, TSC 0-7) in strong fashion Saturday afternoon by posting four goals and a shutout at Bobcat Field.
The Bobcats came out of the gates hot as a
Mikhail Weatherly goal off a
Marcelo Norton assist in the eighth minute put the Bobcats ahead early. The attack continued as
Andres Rico marched down the field to score an unassisted goal in the 28th minute to strengthen STU's lead.Â
Just moments later, the Bobcats threatened again and were fouled inside the box to set up a
Marcelo Norton penalty kick in the 28th minute. Norton was able to score of the penalty kick and send the Bobcats into halftime up by three goals.Â
In the second half, the Bobcat attack continued as Marc Heinking joined the scoring from a Weatherly pass. This goal secured the victory for STU and ended the match with a score of 4-0.
Deljan Bregassi received the nod to start at goal for the Bobcats and didn't disappoint. Bregassi posted six saves and held Ave Maria to a shutout for the match.
STU returns to Bobcat Field on Wednesday vs. another conference opponent in Northwood at 4 p.m.
