MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - St. Thomas (17-7, 8-1 TSC) fell to Embry-Riddle (13-9, 7-1 TSC) in a back and forth five set match that had everyone on their seats from start to finish. Each of the first three sets were decided by only two points. But, the Eagles proved too much for the Bobcats in the fifth set as they were able to secure the final set 15-12 for the victory at the Fernandez Family Center, breaking the Bobcats undefeated conference record.
A powerful start for each team was sparked by their setters.
Dana Nowaczyk's 46 assists lead the Bobcats. Not to be outdone, Embry-Riddle's Tamires Ferreira had 51 assists. The set advantages were exchanged throughout the match as the Eagles took the first and third set and the Bobcats took the second and forth. But, Embry-Riddle was able to take the all-important fifth set to acheive victory. Great matches by

Whitney Battoe (14 kills one ace, one block, one assist, four digs) and
Carly Durr (13 kills, three aces, two blocks, five digs) helped STU continue the fight against Embry-Riddle. The 61 kills by the Eagles proved to be a great challenge for the Bobcats, along with their eight service errors. This proved to be a match to remember as both teams continue to fight for first place in The Sun Conference.
STU returns to the Fernandez Family Center early tomorrow morning to continue their conference homestand agianst Southeastern at 12 p.m.
