10/6/2014 5:26:00 PM

Box Score MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - The combination of Michelle Bailey and Sarah Lyppert Thomsson connected twice to pace the scoring as St. Thomas (5-4-1, 1-2) outshot Florida Memorial (1-10-1) by a whopping 33-11 en route to a 3-0 victory on Monday afternoon at Bobcat Field.  Freshman Cristina Garwacki earned the shutout at goalkeeper for the Bobcats.

Andreina Sifontes made a solo attack, dribbling up the center of the field, then finishing with a successful strike on goal to open the scoring and give the Bobcats an early lead less than five minutes into play. After being inserted into the game as a substitute, Michelle Bailey scored her first of two goals off an assist by Lyppert Thomsson with 20 minutes to play in the first half.

Coming out of halftime with a two-goal lead, Lyppert Thomsson found Bailey again for another goal to make the score 3-0.  STU's defense, led by Ashley Taylor, Karina Velazquez and Alessandra Salazar, blanked the Lions the rest of the way to preserve the shutout.

STU returns to action on Friday with a Sun Conference match vs. Johnson & Wales at 4 p.m. at Bobcat Field.
