MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – St. Thomas (7-3) wrapped up The Athlete's Meals Classic with a resounding 82-41 win over Trinity International (0-15) on Wednesday evening at the Fernandez Family Center.
Dannisha Pierce recorded a double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds and was sensational on the defensive end registering a career-high nine steals to go along with three blocked shots.Â
Claudia Martin scored 20 points and pulled down nine rebounds, while Desanta' Franklin-Jordan (11 pts.) and Jamesha Willis (10 pts.) also scored in double figures.
The Bobcats opened the game on a 20-0 scoring run shutting out the Trojans for the first seven minutes of the contest. Pierce opened the scoring with back-to-back steals leading to two fast break layups within the game's first minute of action. A three-pointer with 13:20 to go in the first half by Emma Grimes completed the scoring run.
St. Thomas returns to action on Saturday with a Sun Conference match up vs. Southeastern at the Fernandez Family Center.
