MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - No. 11 St. Thomas (21-5, 14-2) won its sixth consecutive game with a 86-72 win over Johnson & Wales (13-14, 5-11) Saturday evening at the Fernandez Family Center. Five different players scored in double figures for the Bobcats led by senior guards
Khaalis Coppock-Bey (18 points) and
Demetris Allen (17 points).
The win came on senior night as seven seniors were honored in pre-game ceremonies: Allen,
Floyd Battle,
Davorn Bryant, Coppock-Bey,
Kevin Hincapie,
Heberto Guanipa, and
Demonte' Simpson.
The Bobcats played well defensively forcing 23 JWU turnovers on 15 steals, including a game-high five steals by Battle.
STU outscored JWU 45-33 in the second half to win comfortably after leading by just to points at the half. Sophomore guard
James Vice led the way scoring 13 of his 15 points in the second stanza.
Next up for St. Thomas is a home game vs. Northwood on Wednesday at the Fernandez Family Center. Tip off is set for 8 p.m.
