BOBCATS FALL TO WEBBER INTL. IN SEMIFINALS

Box Score MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Fourth seeded Webber International upset top seeded St. Thomas 71-62 in the first of two semifinals at The Sun Conference Women's Basketball Championship presented by Shula's Hotel and Golf Club.
 
Alishia Kahan led the Warriors in the victory with 16 points, hitting two three-pointers and going a perfect 10-of-10 from the free throw line.  Sun Conference Player of the Year Yesenia Lora scored 15 points on 7-of-19 shooting and pulled down eight rebounds.
 
St. Thomas was led by first-team All-Conference selection Daniella Ciccarone with a game-high 28 points on 7-of-16 shooting and 14-of-16 from the free throw line.  Antishia Wright, also a first-team All-Conference selection, recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
 
The Warriors led most of the contest taking a 35-25 advantage into the locker room at halftime.  The Bobcats cut the lead into single digits for much of the second half, before a 13-0 WIU run stretched the lead to back into double figures.
 
Both teams struggled from the field with Webber International shooting 32% and St. Thomas shooting 38% from the field.  The two teams combined to miss 27 of 39 three-point attempts.
 
For the second straight season, Webber International will play in The Sun Conference Championship game to be played on Saturday at the Fernandez Family Center.
