STU FALLS IN OVERTIME BATTLE

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - The 21st ranked St. Thomas (4-3-1, TSC 0-1) suffered a loss in its conference opener in a defeat to Thomas (4-4, TSC 1-0). The game was an overtime thriller, which ended with a Thomas goal eight minutes into the first overtime. 

STU struck first with an unassisted goal by Andreina Sifontes in the fifth minute.  The Bobcats carried the one-goal lead into the half, and were able to hold of the Night Hawks scoreless until the 82nd minute of the match.  
Thomas was able to mount a late comeback, as Alyssa Denton found Linnea Roivas for the equalizer. 
Cristina Garwacki was excellent in goal during regulation as she made nine saves for the Bobcats. The game moved to overtime with the first goal to score winning the match.  Jenny Hernandez of the Night Hawks was able to intercept a pass off the Bobcats and score to secure the victory 2-1 for Thomas.

STU returns to Bobcat Field Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. to face off in another conference match against fifth ranked Embry-Riddle in what is being billed as the NAIA Women's Soccer Match of the Week.
