BOBCATS WIN EIGHTH STRAIGHT

Box Score MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - St. Thomas (14-4, 7-0 TSC) won its eighth consecutive match and remained perfect in The Sun Conference with a straight-set victory over Northwood (9-9, 3-4 TSC) Saturday afternoon at the Fernandez Family Center.  The Bobcats won all three sets over the Seahwaks in decisive fashion with scores of 25-16, 25-10, and 25-15.

Freshman Whitney Battoe led STU's offensive attack with 14 kills with half of her kills coming in a dominant second set where the Bobcats won by 15 points.  Marisa Markus recorded nine kills, while Samantha Garza chipped in with seven kills to go along with two service aces.

Setting up the attack was sophomore Dana Nowaczyk who tallied 31 assists, 11 digs and two blocks on the afternoon.  Libero Sydney Maynard registered 11 digs and had one service ace.

St. Thomas takes a break from conference action with a week off before heading to to Grand Rapids, Mich. for a tournament that begins with a match vs. Ashford (Iowa) on October 10.  Conference action resumes with a match vs. Florida Memorial on October 22.
