CONFERENCE STREAK CONTINUES IN LAKE WALES AFTERNOON VICTORY

LAKE WALES, Fla. – St. Thomas (15-3, TSC 8-0) defeats Warner University (5-12, TSC 1-7) in an afternoon matchup at the Turner Athletic Center. The Bobcats were able to take down the Royals to remain a perfect 8-0 in conference. After a 27-26 lead heading into the half, STU was able to secure the win at Lake Wales by defeating Warner by 15 points, St. Thomas 57 – Warner 42.

Three St. Thomas players were able to post double-digit points for the Bobcats in the victory over Warner: Dannisha Pierce (14), Claudia Martin (10), and Desanta' Franklin-Jordan lead the front.  Martin was also able to lead the Bobcats in rebounds with nine boards, while Pierce had a game high three steals for the day.

Second chance points were a huge part of STU's success this afternoon, as they scored 21 points from the extra opportunities. Another huge factor for the Bobcats was their free throw game. As they only were able to score five points from the charity stripe in the first half, STU was able to score more than double that in the second with 14 points from the line. Overall, they shot 73 percent from the line, making 19 out of 26 shots.

The Bobcats also had a strong performance on defense, as they held the Royals to a 31 percent field goal percentage for the day and only allowingWarner to get to the foul line eight times.

STU heads to Lakeland next week on Thursday to attempt to keep the conference streak alive when they face off against Southeastern at 5:30 p.m.
