MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. –
Lorel Beckford scored 23 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead St. Thomas (11-9, 6-5 The Sun Conference) to a 68-64 win over Thomas University (14-7, 5-6 TSC) Saturday evening at the Fernandez Family Center.

The Bobcats led by as many as 17 in the second half, but the Night Hawks stormed back to cut the lead to just two points in the game's final minute. Free throws by
Chuckie Becton,
Mikon Hewitt and
Michael Walker iced the game for STU.

Beckford, who recorded his sixth double-double of the season, shot 8-of-11 from the field and 7-of-8 from the line. Also scoring in double figures was Walker who had 14 points, going 10-of-12 from the free throw line. As a team, the Bobcats shot 27-of-36 (75%) from the line.

Both teams shot an identical 40% from the field, but the Bobcats outrebounded the Night Hawks 43-29 including a 16-9 advantage on the offensive glass.
