BOBCATS SWEEP WARRIORS IN STRAIGHT SETS

Box Score MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - St. Thomas (18-3, TSC 5-0) defeated the Warriors (5-11, TSC 1-4) in three sets (25-23, 25-9, 25-19) to clinch their fifth Sun Conference win.  Leading the bobcats in the win was Whitney Battoe, who recorded 12 kills, seven digs and one block assist.  Other attackers with solid performances included Lenicia Tyson (8 kills), Marisa Markus (8 kills), Samantha Garza (7 kills) and Cheye-Anne Savage (7 kills).  Dana Nowaczyk led all players with assists as she recorded 23 of them while Kimberly Martino followed closely behind her with 14.  Defensively the bobcats held stern, totaling a combined 34 digs with the majority split amongst Battoe (7 digs), Jordan Wiese (6 digs), Martino (6 digs), Nowaczyk (5 digs), and Markus (4 digs).

The Bobcats showed a slow start, after only winning their first set 25-23.  With the second set underway, and having the first almost slip through their fingers, St. Thomas picked up intensity as they pulled away with a 25-9 win.  In the third set, the Warriors played with a chip on their shoulder as they gave all they had but fell short with the score ending 25-12. 

Up next, St. Thomas is set to face off against Warner University, Fla. October 17th.  This contest will be their sixth Sun Conference match-up. First serve is set for 2 P.M. E.T. at the Fernandez Family Center.
