ANOTHER STRAIGHT SET WIN FOR THE BOBCATS

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - St. Thomas (20-4, 7-1 TSC) defeated the Lions (5-16, 0-7 TSC) in three sets (25-18, 25-15, 25-8) to clinch their seventh Sun Conference win.  Leading the bobcats in the win was Lenicia Tyson, who recorded 12 kills, two digs and one block solo.

Other attackers with exceptional performances included Marisa Markus (8 kills), Cheye-Anne Savage (7 kills), and Samantha Garza (5 kills).  Defensively St. Thomas was not compromising with the Florida Memorial offense as they totaled 49 digs, with the majority split amongst Whitney Battoe (13 digs), Jordan Wiese (9 digs) and Marisa Markus (5 digs). Leading all players with assists was Dana Nowaczyk as she recorded 25 of them.

The Bobcats start was fast paced as first led 12 to two during the first set. However, the lions struck back with five straight points to pull the score closer, 12 to seven, with St. Thomas still holding the lead. The rest of the set would remain the same as both teams caught point streaks throughout. With the Bobcats keeping persistent, they would pull ahead to win set one 25-18.  With the second set underway, the same type of play would continue resulting in a 25-15 win for St. Thomas. With a strong finish for the Bobcats in the third set, the Lions seemed to have lost all faith as they fell short with the score tallying 25-8.

The Bobcats return to action against more national foes at this weekend's Georgetown Invitational in Georgetown, Ky.  On Friday, the Bobcats face Viterbo University (Wis.) at 4 a.m. followed by another team Indiana Wesleyan University at 7 p.m.  On Saturday, STU faces #11 Georgetown College at 10 a.m. followed by a match vs. (RV) St. Catharine College at 4 p.m.
