BAILEY'S LATE STRIKE PROPELS BOBCATS PAST JOHNSON & WALES

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. - St. Thomas (9-6, 6-3 TSC) managed to squeak by Johnson & Wales (7-9, 4-5 TSC) thanks to the right foot of Michelle Bailey.  Bailey's strike in the 87th minute broke a scoreless affair to give the Bobcats a 1-0 victory.  Keeper Cristina Garwacki picked up her eighth victory and added another shutout to her resume.

The first 86 minutes of the match, the story had been the Bobcats inability to score despite repeated chances.  St. Thomas took 14 shots with five of them in the direction of the net.  Contrast this with a Wildcat team that only had one shot opportunity all afternoon, which was easily dispatched by Garwacki.

The combination of an agressive offense that controlled possession backed by a stout defense would seemingly be the recipe for any Bobcat victory.  However, for the overwhelming majority of this contest it seemed as though even that may not prove to be true.  That was until a little over two minutes remained.

Bailey managed to get a grasp of the ball and took matters into her own hands, or should we say feet.  She powered her sixth goal of the year through the net to edge the Bobcats past the Wildcats.

St. Thomas wraps up their regular season slate with Florida Memorial.  Kick-off is set for 3 P.M. E.T. this Wednesday at Vizcaya Park in Miramar, Fla.
