MIAMI GARDENS, Fla - St. Thomas (10-5, 7-2 TSC) lost a tight contest (2-3) on the road to the Florida Memorial Lions (10-7, 5-4 TSC). Tied at the half, the difference proved to be Matias Ledesma's goal midway through the second half.
Victor Cortez and
Fabian Heinrich each scored a goal for the Bobcats, but ultimately it was not enough.
The Lions were first on the board finding a score in the 12th minute of the first half. Shortly after, Florida Memorial would again find the back of the net with a shot taken from 39 yards out in the 23rd minute. The lead was short-lived, as the Bobcats began to generate more shot opportunities, Chris Valdez would assist
Victor Cortez on a goal to help the team get a score on the board in the 37th minute. With Cortez's goal scoring energy boost, the Bobcats would educe yet another goal from teammate
Fabian Heinrich to tie up the score in the 39th minute heading into the half.
Both teams continued with aggressive approaches in the second half, finding ways to generate an equal amount of shot opportunities. With a bit more luck than the Bobcats, the Lions would catch a sigh of relief when Ledesma collected the, would-be, game-winning goal in the 60th minute. Giving their best the Bobcats were not able to capitalize on the few opportunities presented in the second half. An otherwise solid match-up, the bobcats finish their season and wait eagerly for the Sun Conference Tournament.
