MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - The resumption of conference play has been the exact recipe needed for St. Thomas (21-8, 9-1 TSC), who had another dominant outing in their sweep (25-20, 25-20, 25-10) of Ave Maria (13-17, 1-9 TSC). For the second consecutive game,
Carly Durr led the Bobcats with 10 kills.
Other standout performers included
Whitney Battoe (nine kills, three service aces, five digs, and five block-assists).
Cheye-Anne Savage (seven kills, five block-assists) and
Samantha Garza (seven kills, two block-assists) were stout in the middle, providing an effective effort for the Bobcat frontline.
Dana Nowaczyk delivered another all-conference performance with 31 assists and six digs.
The Bobcats raced off to a 17-9 lead in the first before the Gyrenes responded with seven unanswered points to bring the score within one. From there St. Thomas would regain its form and begin to pull away. Nowaczyk found Battoe for set point and the Bobcats took a 1-0 lead by the score of 25-20.
Set two featured a similar narrative without the Ave Maria run. It's conclusion however was the same, another 25-20 victory for the Bobcats.
Set three was by far the Bobcats most impressive outing. With the score knotted at three, St. Thomas would go on to score 10 consecutive points to bust the set open. The Bobcats completed the sweep when an attack error by the Gyrene's Lexy Smith netted St. Thomas a 25-10 victory in the final frame.
Today's match served as the final regular season game at home for St. Thomas. They wrap up the season with two road games next weekend. Up next is Webber International. First serve between the Bobcats and Warriors is set for 7 P.M. E.T. at the Sabbagh Athletic Center in Babson Park, Fla.
