MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - St. Thomas (0-5) women's basketball team would fall 52-61 to its home opener against Taylor University (4-2), in what would be the fifth loss of the season.  Katie Rienas led all Bobcats in scoring with 16 points and following closely behind her was teammate Samara Auguste who totaled 13 points.

With the start of the first quarter the Bobcats would evenly match the Trojans as they would hold a two-point lead at the conclusion of quarter one.  Headed to the second quarter much of the same play would continue as both teams would trade points evenly. However, the Trojans would take the lead by two in the last few minutes headed into the half.  Coming out of the half the St. Thomas and Taylor would push the pace offensively.  Each trying to stretch the lead, they would exchange points almost every possession throughout the quarter.  It wasn't until the last couple minutes when Taylor took the lead 47-42 over the Bobcats.  Leading into te fourth quarter, Taylor's lead would continue to stretch.  Outscoring St. Thomas 15-9, the Bobcats could not seem to find a helping solution.  Unfortunately, the Bobcats would fall 52-61 due to a last quarter streak.
