BUZZER BEATER TAKES DOWN BOBCATS

Box Score MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Tony Jackson hit a buzzer beater to give Siena Heights (6-10) a 69-67 win over host St. Thomas (6-5) at the Athletes Meals Classic on Wednesday night at the Fernandez Family Center. 

St. Thomas, which trailed by as many as 15 points in the second half, stormed back to tie the game at 67-67.  Much of the comeback was fueled by freshman center Raheem Bowman who scored 15 of his team-high 17 points in the second half.
Siena Heights never trailed and took a comfortable 37-23 lead into intermission.  The Saints led by 15 points with 11 minutes remaining in the second half, before the Bobcats chipped away to eventually tie the game at 67-67.

In addition to Bowman, Mikon Hewitt was a major factor down the stretch, scoring all 12 of his points in the second half.  Michael Walker scored 16 points.

Siena Heights was led by point guard George Goodman who scored 18 points.

The Saints shot 56% from the field, compared to 41% by the Bobcats who struggled in the first half offensively.  STU converted just one of 11 three-point attempts in the contest.

St. Thomas returns to action on Jan. 5 vs. crosstown rival Florida Memorial in a Sun Conference match up at the Fernandez Family Center.
