MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – St. Thomas (27-4, 17-1 TSC) won The Sun Conference Championship presented by Don Shula's Hotel and Golf Club with a 65-55 win over Webber International (22-7, 13-5) on Saturday at the Fernandez Family Center. With the win, the Bobcats swept both the regular-season and Sun Conference Tournament championships.

Tournament MVP and Sun Conference Player of the Year
Dannisha Pierce played all 40 minutes,  scoring 13 points and grabbing a team-high eight rebounds. Pierce, the nation's leader in steals, recorded seven steals for the game.Â

Claudia Martin (15 pts, 7 rebs) and
Antishia Wright (14 pts) were also named the All-Tournament team. Also scoring in double figures for the Bobcats was
Cleyder Blanco who scored 10 points in just 13 minutes off the bench.

WIU's Desyln Applewhite led all scorers with 28 points, while Shakeria Wilson added 11 points. Applewhite and Wilson both were named to the All-Tournament team.

St. Thomas never trailed and took commanding lead early, using a 15-0 run to take a 22-5 lead, its largest lead of the game. The Bobcats took a 35-25 lead into intermission. Â

The Warriors cut the lead 54-51 with 3:10 remaining as Jessica Colson hit a three-pointer. The Bobcats responded with two free throws by Pierce and a layup by Martin to take a 58-51 lead. Pierce then recorded a steal that led to a fast break layup by Desanta' Franklin Jordan to put the game away.
