BARRIOS TOSSES COMPLETE GAME SHUTOUT TO FUEL BOBCAT WIN

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Bobcats (30-10, TSC 13-5) continued their sharp play against Webber International (24-17, TSC 8-11).  The Bobcats took control of matters early in the first two innings, and their dominant play defensively would secure them another conference victory by the score of 6-0.  This evening's standout performer, offensively, was Paul Chacin.  Chacin continued his exceptional play going three for four with two RBI.  Defensively, Marcos Barrios had a stud performance, going all nine innings and pitching a shutout day.  Barrios completed the game with 7 strikeouts and only six hits.

Other players with critical contributions today were Nico Hernandez (two for three with one RBI), Jerry Downs (one for three with one RBI), and Eric Santamaria (one for three with one RBI).  Steven Fischer, Oscar Rodriguez, Bryan Bermudez  and Cesar Ramirez each had a hit on the day.

The Bobcats scored the first run of the day in the bottom first, when Bermudez reached home off a Downs fielder's choice.  The Bobcats would add more runs in the bottom second.  A Ramirez RBI single would score David Quintero, and a Hernandez RBI single would score Ramirez.  A few plays later, with the bases loaded, Chacin would hit a 2 RBI single, scoring Hernandez and Bermudez.  The score would remain 5-0 until the bottom 7th, when a sacrifice fly by Santamaria scored Downs.  Six runs is all the Bobcats would need to wrap things up, as Barrios continued to his shutout until the game's conclusion.

Barrios' win moves him to 5-1 on the season, tied for the most wins on the team.

Bobcats return to action tomorrow, April 4, when they will again face Webber International in a doubleheader.  First pitch is scheduled for 12 P.M. E.T.
