Box Score MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - St. Thomas (2-0) defeated both Keiser (1-1) and Florida Memorial (0-2) in straight sets to open the 2015 regular season at the STU Tri-Match Thursday at the Fernandez Family Center. Â
In the opening match the Bobcats, the preseason favorites to win The Sun Conference, defeated Keiser 25-20, 25-15, 25-11 were led by strong performances by seniors
Samantha Garza,
Sydney Maynard,
Cheye-Anne Savage and
Jordan Wiese as well as junior
Dana Nowaczyk and sophomore
Caitlin McCluskey.
In the nightcap vs. Florida Memorial, STU was led by Nowaczyk who recorded 10 assists to go along with five kills. Â
Stacey Spalding made an impact with five kills, while Savage recorded four kills. Â Wiese led all players with nine digs.
The service game was especially effective for the Bobcats vs. the Lions as STU recorded 14 service aces led by Maynard who had six aces. Â Garza (3 aces),
Danielle Mobley (2 aces),
Jessica Ingram (1 ace),
Kelli Kosydor (1 ace) all recorded service aces as well.
